Plant Alliance

PLANT Alliance (Promoting Local Agriculture and Nourishing Traditions) educates and empowers people to access fresh, locally grown and locally prepared foods. We foster connections between producers and consumers, increase access to nutritious local foods, and advocate for sustainable growing practices. Our primary way of doing this is through managing the Beatrice Farmers Market, now in its 29th year. At the farmers market, we offer educational activities for children and nutrition education for adults. We also provide other educational programming in the community that helps people connect with local food.

Help Us Grow POP Club!

Give kids the opportunity to discover fresh, local food (and the farmers who grow it).

At PLANT Alliance, we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to access fresh, locally grown and locally prepared food. We work to make those connections happen through the Beatrice Farmers Market, which has connected local farmers, bakers, makers, and our community for 29 years.

One of our favorite ways to build those connections is through POP Club (Power of Produce): a free children's program at the Beatrice Farmers Market that puts fresh, local food directly into kids' hands.

How POP Club Works

Each week, children ages 4–12 can stop by the POP Club tent and participate in a free educational activity. After completing the activity, they receive $3 in POP Club currency to spend on fresh fruits and vegetables from participating market vendors.

But POP Club is about more than $3.

It's about giving kids the opportunity to make their own choices, try new foods, meet local farmers, and discover where their food comes from. It's about helping children see the farmers market as a place where they belong.

And when a child uses their POP Club tokens to buy a tomato, a bunch of carrots, or another locally grown treat, they're not only getting fresh food, they're also putting money directly into the hands of the local farmers who grew it.

We want to grow POP Club so that more local children can participate and experience the farmers market in this way.
