The Great Plains Welsh Heritage Project is the only Welsh museum in North America dedicated to those coming for land. We house the only Archive in North America for Welsh Americans and their treasured one-of-a-kind contributions. We have become nationally and internationally known for our artifacts as well as the only depository for our Welsh Newspaper, St. David's Society's throughout North America and donations from across the United States and Canada. In 2023 we hosted the North American Festival of Wales for the first time in its nearly 100-year history. That year we were honored to receive the National Welsh American Foundation Heritage* Medallion for our service in promoting Welsh heritage throughout North America. We also maintain and promote the one-room school located in McCandless Park in Wymore Nebraska. We have hosted a national event honoring rural education and many have stated it is one of the best historical restorations in the U.S. We are honored to have the designation from the National Register of One-Room Schools.
The Great Plains Welsh Heritage Project has become recognized by the North American Welsh as a significant cog in the wheel of Welsh American Heritage societies working to preserve our Welsh influence. Alan Upshall, President of The Puget Sound Welsh Association. Native of the Rhondda Valley of Wales.
