They Didn't Ask to Be Born-But We Can Give Them a Future :  Support the Last Litter Program at Beatrice Humane Society

Every tiny mewl, every wobbly step, every blink of wide, trusting eyes… these kittens didn't ask to be here. But they're here-unplanned, vulnerable, and in need of everything: warmth, safety, nourishment, love, and most importantly a future.

Thanks to our Last Litter Program, we're rewriting their story. This program was built for moments like this-to welcome unplanned litters into our care while ensuring their parents are spayed or neutered and returned to the homes or colonies they know and love. It's a promise of compassion, prevention, and second chances.

But this isn't just about saving kittens. It's about stabilizing our community's pet population and keeping beloved pets with the families who cherish them. By preventing future litters, we're reducing shelter intake, lowering euthanasia rates, and easing the burden on local resources.

Why It Matters:

  • Over 70,000 puppies and kittens are born every day in the U.S.-that's more than 27 million annually.
  • A single unaltered female cat and her offspring can produce 370,000 kittens in just seven years.
  • Each year, 6.3 million animals enter shelters, and over 600,000 are euthanized-many simply because there's nowhere for them to go.

We believe families shouldn't have to choose between keeping their pets and doing what's right. With your help, they won't have to.

Your donation helps us:

Provide medical care and supplies for incoming litters

Spay and neuter the parents to prevent future litters

Keep pets in their homes or colonies, where they're safe and loved

Break the cycle of overpopulation-one litter at a time

Whether it's $5 for a bottle of formula or $100 toward a spay surgery, every gift is a lifeline.
