Fundraiser Story
The First Baptist Church started the Community Care Closet in 2019 out of the desire to serve foster youth and families. This goal quickly expanded to include others in our community and the surrounding area that are most vulnerable. The Community Care Closet provides youth and adults with gently used and new clothing.
In 2024, The Community Care Closet served a minimum of 241 total youth (74 of this number were youth in foster care) and 112 adults. This outreach is completely dependent on clothing donations made by the community and monetary donations that are used to purchase clothing at discounted costs. The Community Care Closet is run completely by volunteers.
This outreach has helped those in our community that are in foster care, kinship homes, guardianship/adoption, families that have reunified, homeless, fleeing domestic violence, entering treatment, recovering from a house fire, victims of trafficking, former foster youth, just to name a few!
Through the Big Give Fundraiser, the Community Care Closet is seeking to raise funds to restock clothing needs for the anticipated number of youth and families that will be served in 2026. Funds raised will be used to purchase seasonally appropriate clothing, socks, and underwear. Thank you for helping us to provide needed clothing and supplies to those in our community!
