In 2019, First Baptist Church of Beatrice opened a Foster Care Closet within the church to serve youth in the community. This developed into a partnership with the Foster Care Closets of Nebraska in 2020. The Beatrice Foster Care Closet's mission is to restore dignity to youth in crisis. Youth in foster care are provided with brand new clothing, socks, shoes, underwear, diapers/wipes, and hygiene supplies at no cost to the youth or family. The church's original Foster Care Closet transitioned into an additional outreach for the community and named the Beatrice Community Care Closet. This outreach supports youth when they no longer qualify for the Foster Care Closet. This Community Closet also provides clothing for youth (and families) that are working with DHHS voluntarily, youth that have reunified or been adopted, youth in guardianship, adults in recovery, homeless individuals, and others that are identified as having a need. The Community Care Closet continues to expand in size and in the amount of youth and adults served.
